Scope
of Expertise
Ultra-Systems Technology
(UST) was
established to provide expert technical consulting services
to the industry and Government.
UST
provides strategic, technology and commercial consulting
services on energy systems for renewables as well as
fossil fuels. We can evaluate and promote renewable
energy products and put renewable energy technologies
into perspective with traditional fossil fuel energy
technologies. We understand the commercial implications
of greenhouse issues and distributed generation and
can undertake planning and competitor studies.
|
 |
| UST has
a wide range of contacts in industry and government. Our
focus is on biomass and waste (resources, handling, combustion
and gasification), solar energy systems, geothermal and
remote area power supply systems. |
Services Include:
-
Feasibility of power projects,
including biomass and waste, resource and utilisation
studies, energy transport studies and small power
systems.
-
Identification of market opportunities
for renewable energy.
-
Evaluation of renewable energy
resources conversion technologies for biomass, waste,
wind, solar, geothermal and hydro. Also for solid
and gaseous resources including biogas and landfill
gas.
-
Development and implementation
of detailed testing programs for biomass and waste.
Detailed fuel evaluation, including laboratory and
pilot scale testing and evaluation programs.
-
Evaluation of equipment for
handling and utilising different feedstocks. Performance
testing of plant and process investigations.
-
Integration of renewable energy
technologies into conventional power systems, including
supplementary energy inputs to steam cycles (solar
or geothermal) and co-firing of coal with biomass
or gas.

Feasibility
Studies
-
Tea-tree Oil Processing Plant
Study. Preliminary
feasibility investigations and costing of a co-generation
project to utilise tea-tree residue for power generation
and steam raising. Government Corporation.
-
Landfill Gas for Power and
Heating. Study into the feasibility and the
cost of recovering landfill gas and utilising it
in a co-generation project to generate green energy
and to use waste heat for heating a greenhouse.
Private Company
|
Resource Evaluation
-
Biomass Resources and their
Use for Power Generation in Queensland. Identification
of the biomass resources in Queensland that could
be used as a fuel for power generation. Investigations
included the properties of the biomass, technologies
for power generation costs. Government Corporation.
-
Renewable Energy Project:
Additional Sources of Biomass. Locate and identify
the costs of biomass to supplement bagasse for co-generation
at sugar mills during the off season. The study
covered availability of the biomass, collection,
transport, preparation and storage, properties and
utilisation characteristics and cost. Sugar Milling
Company.
